Stake Growth Video

See the new 2005 version here.

This is a cool video showing the growth of the church by stakes throughout the world. I know that from experience from members in South Africa, it can be difficult to get a stake.

(This video is about 10 megabytes, so you may not want to download unless you have high-speed internet.)

A few scriptures come to mind.

D&C 65:2

The keys of the kingdom of God are committed unto man on the earth, and from thence shall the gospel roll forth unto the ends of the earth, as the stone which is cut out of the mountain without hands shall roll forth, until it has filled the whole earth.

2 Nephi 1:5 (Mainly due to the large number of stakes in these lands)

But, said he, notwithstanding our afflictions, we have obtained a land of promise, a land which is choice above all other lands; a land which the Lord God hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheritance of my seed. Yea, the Lord hath covenanted this land unto me, and to my children forever, and also all those who should be led out of other countries by the hand of the Lord.

  1. That is pretty cool. I was quite surprised how long it took to have a stake outside the US. But once that got started things really took off.

  2. I downloaded the file to my imac… I get music when it plays with Windows Media Player but I get no images, just a black screen. When I play the file on my HP laptop, it plays with images and music. How do get this to play on my imac? Any ideas?

  3. Wow! Who created this, it’s cool. I wonder if it’s timeline is tied right to the dates stakes were created. Has anyone updated this through 2005?

  4. I team teach the 16 year olds in sunday school and my partner brought this to class and we gathered around the computer screne and got chills. This is amazing to see. The youth loved it!!!!

  5. It did take a while to get stakes outside the US, but you have to remember that in the early days of the church that when converts were baptized they came to Utah for many years.

  6. Im a student at BYU and my Book of Mormon professor showed this to us a few days ago. It really is cool. Id like to see an updated version.

  7. I am from Guyana, South America and the church is just about 15 years old here. We have 3 distreicts and preparing to have aleast one stake. I saw the video a few weeks ago and I was amaized by the growth, can’t wait to see the updated version

  9. If you’ve watched the video from this site, you’ve essentially downloaded a copy. You can try right-clicking one of the images above and selecting “Save Target As…” or “Save Link As…”

  10. Do you have a version of this with a higher resolution? My high priest group leader wants to show it on a projector for priesthood this next week, but it’s pretty blurry. Thanks.

  12. This is an awesome video presentation. Thank you for putting it on your website for us to enjoy.

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, let’s not stop at just 2,665 Stakes, let’s continue to grow our church and allow all souls the opportunity to “Come Unto Christ” and enjoy the Blessings of Exaltation. We are responsible for those souls let’s find them.

  13. Thank you for the video is greatful see how the Church of JesusChrist is Growing.

  14. I would like to add the stake growth video to a power point presentation but it seems to be in the wrong format to dothis

  15. This is a great piece. I’m sure the bells in hell are ringing, as the Devil knows he “hath but a short time” and is alarmed by the growing power of Christ upon the earth.

Ezra Taft Benson prophetically stated the very last time he stood at the pulpit and spoke under power of his own voice:

“I testify that the church and kingdom of God is increasing in strength. Its numbers are growing, as is the faithfulness of its faithful members. It has never been better organized or equipped to perform its divine mission.

“I testify that as the forces of evil increase under Lucifer’s leadership and as the forces of good increase under the leadership of Jesus Christ, there will be growing battles between the two until the final confrontation. As the issues become clearer and more obvious, all mankind will eventually be required to align themselves either for the kingdom of God or for the kingdom of the devil. As these conflicts rage, either secretly or openly, the righteous will be tested. God’s wrath will soon shake the nations of the earth and will be poured out on the wicked without measure. (See JS—H 1:45; D&C 1:9.) But God will provide strength for the righteous and the means of escape; and eventually and finally truth will triumph. (See 1 Ne. 22:15–23.)” (Ezra Taft Benson, “I Testify,” Ensign, Nov. 1988, 86)

  16. I am glad to be the first comment of the year.. I love this video and plan to use it in church … I am so greatful to be a member of this church and I have to say without a dought that this church is true and the Savior is The Leader of it and I look forward to more stakes and members, every soul counts….Say your prayers always D&C 88:126

  17. Is this video available to purchase and show as a DVD. I would like very much to purchase a copy to be able to show as a DVD and not just through my computer. Thanks.

  18. You who need this in other formats might find this a helpful thing, MpegStreamclip, one of the greatest little video tools to be had, and it’s free.

I’m working on a Mac, and can drop this video into “Toast” made by Roxio, and it will burn it to DVD. I hope any of you who would wish to get it to DVD might find how to do so.

The program I refer to above comes now for both PC and Macs. You can do a ton with it, changing it to different formats.

  19. What software did you use to do this? I’d like to create (or find, if someone has already made one) a video of the temples. I have a .kml file with time stamps of the order that the temples were completed—available from http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/downloads—but Google Earth’s “tour” feature zooms in too far (making the tour last WAAAYYY too long) and it won’t allow a 2D map. Maybe you could make one? :)<
